Almost every producer who has a film ready for release, or has a film in production is currently suffering due to the crisis brought upon by coronavirus. The situation was pretty much the same last year as well, but many producers reduced their burden by releasing their films on OTT platforms. This year too, several films have received good OTT offers, but producers are not able to move forward due to the actors involved in the films.
It was widely speculated that Nani’s Tuck Jagdish would be released on OTT, but the makers of the film have clarified that there’s not going to be any OTT release and that the film is going to release directly in theatres. Nani’s V released on Amazon Prime last year, and despite good expectations on the film, it turned out to be a disappointment for the fans. Perhaps due to that experience, Nani is insistent on a theatrical release.
On the other hand, there was also speculation that Vishwak Sen’s Paagal would also get an OTT release, but sources say that Vishwak is entirely against the idea. Even Ravi Teja’s Khiladi was said to be getting an OTT release, but that’s not true either. All in all, while heroes continue to want a theatrical release only, by not accepting OTT offers, producers are finding themselves in huge financial burdens.
