For SS Vardhan, music has never been about chasing fame or following trends. It has always been a quiet calling—something that grew with him, shaped him, and eventually became the way he tells stories.
A Hyderabad-based music composer, SS Vardhan’s journey began during his school days at St. Peter’s Public School. It was there, under the guidance of Mr. Gomes and later Mr. Vidya Sagar, that his connection with music truly deepened. “I owe a lot to them,” he says. “Their guidance still echoes in my work today.”
Over the years, SS Vardhan has built a diverse body of work in the film industry. He has composed for several Telugu films and web series, with each project helping him grow in a different way. One of his recent films, Malli Rani Aa Kshanam, released on June 18th, holds personal significance—not just for the score but also for the people behind it. The film was directed by Sagar Sailesh, a mentor to SS Vardhan who played a key role in shaping his musical voice. “Working with Sailesh garu was a turning point. He gave me the space to be honest with the music,” he shares.
His earlier film Maranam brought him recognition for its impactful background score, and Pages / Panne, directed by award-winning filmmaker Ram Alladi, allowed him to explore a more subtle and layered musical language. Each project, he says, is a new opportunity to understand the story from the inside out.
While film music remains close to his heart, SS Vardhan is now also focusing on independent music. “With films, I help tell someone else’s story. But with my independent work, I get to share my own,” he says. This shift has allowed him to explore more personal ideas and sounds that reflect his own journey.
His path has never been rushed. Every note, every decision, carries intention. And in a world that often moves fast, SS Vardhan continues to move with clarity, heart, and an unwavering respect for the craft.
