Since his father worked in the Singareni coal mines, it is interesting that the film’s writer and director, Srikanth Odela, added excellent detailing to the sets and their intricate details. This added credibility to the narrative and the aesthetics.
A sizable set covering 25 acres was constructed to replicate the coal mining industry. Every day, in addition to the main and supporting cast, there were up to 300 junior actors on the set, and on very busy days, the set may house over 2000 artists and technicians. In the middle of the grit and dust, the movie was shot over the course of 120 days, with most days having a 24-hour schedule.
Additionally, a whole village set was built with all the amenities needed by the film’s crew. Not only that, but throughout the course of these 25 acres, an intricate train track was also constructed on the site through which trains would travel.
Director Srikanth Odela says, “I envisioned ‘Dasara’ to be raw and real and we are so happy to bring that authenticity to audiences across the country. A massive set was constructed from scratch with a coal mine setup, a village setup, a railroad and thousands of artists and technicians would be present on our bustling sets for days on end. We had created our own little world for Dasara, so as to offer audiences an unforgettable cinematic experience.”
The socioeconomic situation, political aspirations, and power struggle of the Singareni collieries are all explored in Dasara. South celebrity Nani assumes the role of Dharani, a hustler motivated by his love and ambition who struggles with the mysteries of the village in this action-packed comedy.
Starring Nani, Keerthy Suresh, Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Samuthirakani, and Sai Kumar, “Dasara” is a Sudhakar Cherukuri production.
The huge nationwide release of the film, which was written and directed by Srikanth Odela and has music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan Isc, is scheduled for March 30.
