Sridevi Starrer English Vinglish to Release in China to Mark her Death Anniversary

On February 24, the late actress’s movie English Vinglish will be released in China to commemorate her fifth death anniversary. Gauri Shinde’s Bollywood film will be shown at 6,000 theatres across the nation. The movie had its world premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, and on October 5, 2012, it was released in India theatres.

In a statement, Kumar Ahuja, COO of Eros International, saying that “Indian films have progressively earned a foothold in the competitive Chinese movie industry, the second largest in the world. In China Mainland, there has been an increase in interest in Indian movies, particularly those with a strong cultural focus. We can’t wait for the Chinese audience to be astounded by this masterpiece featuring one of the late Bollywood great Sridevi’s most unforgettable performances.
In the narrative English Vinglish, Shashi, a homemaker and caterer, is frequently teased by her family for not speaking English. She continues to try to learn the language, and in the process, she learns more about who she is and how much she appreciates being a wife and a mother.

On February 24, 2018, Sridevi passed away in Dubai. She was discovered dead in the hotel room bathroom. She travelled to Dubai to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are the couple’s two daughters; they are wed to producer Boney Kapoor.
