Sridevi Sobhan Babu starring Santosh Shobhan and Gouri Kishan as the lead pair has hit the screens today on the occasion of Mahashivaratri festival special. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Set in rural backdrop, Sridevi Sobhan Babu revolves around the individual stories of Sridevi ( Gouri Kishan) and Sobhan Babu ( Santosh Shobhan). What circumstances bring both of them under one roof? How are the both side family members involved in the story of the lead pair, forms the rest of the tale.

Performances: Both Santosh Shobhan and Gouri Kishan perfectly fitted in the given roles as the lead pair. They tried their best to elevate the proceedings with their natural acting.

While Gouri is adorable with her looks as the modern girl, Santosh is impressive as a rural guy. The makeover of Santosh as Shobhan Babu is done neatly.

Naga Babu gets a meaty role. Though Naga Babu did his part decently, the character lacks proper clarity. Actress Rohini is impressive in her key role as a village lady.

Other supporting artists who played hero and heroine friend roles are okay in their roles.

Technicalities: Syed Kamran’s music works in parts. While his songs are audible on screen, the background score elevates a few key family emotions in the second half.

The photography work is decent as the natural locations in the rural atmosphere nicely. The editing part is alright.

Production values for this tight-budget movie are okay.

Analysis: Prasanth Kumar Dimmala directs Sridevi Sobhan Babu. The young filmmaker’s idea of exploring family emotions by inserting love drama is good. Though the plotline is ages old, the director would have worked on writing gripping scene order to make things appealing.

Adding to it, the character establishment scenes of Naga Babu are not executed in a proper formate. Due to the same, the role fails to create an impact. Lack of strong narrative and uneven presentation are major defects for the film. To summerize, Sridevi Sobhan Babu is a poorly made rural drama that might click among the digital audience when released online.
