Story: Karthik (Sharwanand) comes from a poor family in a village near Tirupathi. His father (Rao Ramesh) is a farmer who has debts as he fails in agriculture. Karthik studies well and gets a job in the software industry. He makes his father debt-free and at a time where he gets the opportunity to fly the USA, he quits the job and enters agriculture against the wish of everyone.
The rest of the story is all about how Karthik brings out a difference in agriculture and the thought process of today’s youth.
Performances: Sharwanand is a complete actor. There is no doubt about that. In Sreekaram, Sharwanand has given an honest performance. He is completely believable as a software engineer and as a farmer as well. He did well in the emotional sequences too. Rao Ramesh has got an important role in the movie. He is so good in the emotional scenes in the combination of Sharwanand. Naresh as a farmer did well. Sai Kumar is the antagonist and his role could be a bit stronger. Yet, he gives a decent performance. Priyanka Arul Mohan has got a limited role and she is okay. The rest are fine.
Technicalities: Mickey J Meyer’s music is good if not great. Apart from a couple of songs, there is no repeat value. His background music is fine though. His BGM in emotional scenes gives much-needed drama. Yuvraj cinematography is another added asset for the flick. He did a fine job. The production values are excellent. They have taken land for the shooting and did agriculture for shooting scenes.
Kishor B has taken a burning issue and has delivered the goods. Though he is predictable at times, he has succeeded in narrating in an effective way.
Analysis: Sreekaram is an emotional ride. The film discusses various problems farmers are facing in today’s world and the beauty in Sreekaram is the director has shown simple and effective solutions. Honest performances, decent technical aspects, emotional sequences make the movie a decent watch.
