Special Feature: Indian Films Which Collected more Than Rs 1000 Crore at the Box Office

For the past seven years or so Indian films are grabbing global attention and spinning solid revenues at the worldwide box office. Especially, after the release of Baahubali 1, the perception of the Indian film industry has completely changed among foreign language audiences. Cashing in on the craze from Indian films, Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s 2016 rural drama, Dangal breached Rs 1000 gross at the ticket windows. Continuing the trend, films like Baahubali 2, RRR, and the recently released Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan collected Rs 1000 crore gross at the worldwide box office. Due to the widespread digital resources, the barriers between North and South cinema are completely erased in recent times and pan-India films came into existence. Now, we bring you the list of Indian films which collected more than Rs 1000 crore at the box office.

• Dangal

Bollywood star Aamir Khan who is known as Mister Perfectionist in collaboration with World Disney produced a biographical sports drama titled, Dangal in 2016. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal was made with a budget of Rs 70 crore and went on to collect Rs 2000 crore at the worldwide box office.

• Baahubali 2

Ace director SS Rajamouli’s visual wonder, Baahubali 2 was released in 2017. The film is the second installment of the 2015 film, Baahubali. Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj among others in key roles, Baahubali 2 aka Baahubali- The Conclusion went on to mint Ra 1788.6 crore gross at the ticket windows.

• KGF Chapter 2

Kannada actor-director duo Yash and Prashanth Neel’s high voltage actioner, KGF 2 aka KGF Chapter 2 is the second installment of the 2018 film, KGF Chapter 1. KGF 2 was released in April 2022 and breached Rs 1208 crore gross at the worldwide box office.

• RRR

Sensational director SS Rajamouli’s pre-independence patriotic drama, RRR starring Ram Charan and NTR in the lead roles went on to become a blockbuster success at the Indian and overseas territories. Reportedly, the film collected Rs 1155 crore gross at the ticket windows.

• Pathaan

Released on January 25th, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s dark action thriller, Pathaan is having a dream run at the worldwide box office. This Siddharth Anand directional has crossed Rs 1000 crore gross at the worldwide box office. Co-starring Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana, and Dimple Kapadia in prominent roles, Pathaan also has Salman Khan in a key cameo. Pathaan is part of Yash Raj Films’ spy universe.
