Many rumours have come out that SP Balasubramanyam’s family had to pay bills worth of crores for the stay of the legendary singer in MGM Hospital from 5th August till the date of his death. Also, the rumours have stated that the singer-actor-musician-producer-anchor-orator-music composer SPB’s family had to rush to settle those bill amounts to get the permission from hospital has they have resisted and insisted on thorough payment before releasing SPB’s body from their mortuary.
Rumours have further stated that SP Charan had to request Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu to take care of the situation and on VP’s insistence, his daughter paid the amount to the hospital. SP Charan did not take these rumours lightly and clarified that he did not ask anyone for help. And he never had to rush for anything. In fact, the hospital MGM Chennai management have been highly supportive and helpful, he stated.
He also said that when the hospital needed new International equipment to treat SPB, Apollo management upon request, immediately shared it. He thanked MGM hospital management and said that with the doctors, he will be holding a press meet soon to clarify on the amounts the family had to pay. He lashed on the people who spread such rumours and termed it as frustrating and unfortunate for the family to have to issue such clarifications on hospital bills and payments during their hour of extreme grief.
Even Vice President, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu’s daughter, Mrs. Deepa Venkat, also issued a statement saying that she did not pay the hospital bills of SPB. She also said MGM Healthcare Centre as informed the family members that don’t have to pay anything further, two weeks ago. She said that she and her father have regularly monitored health condition of SPB, ever since he has been admitted in the hospital. She termed the legendary singer as an “extremely close friend” to their family.
