S. Janaki, the legendary singer and composer female, from South India has decided to give her last concert on stage this Saturday. The mesmerising singer has started singing on stage in 1952 at Mysuru with P.B Srinivas. After almost 65 years, she decided to end her journey as a singer as she can no longer stress her vocal cords.
On Saturday, he sang for the final time in a concert that lasted for more than three hours for an emotional crowd that came in thousands to witness the magic of S.Janaki, live on stage, one last time. She stopped singing in Films long time ago and announced long time back that she can’t handle the stress of Playback singing anymore. Every now and then, she tried to give one or two concerts but as she felt it is the best time to call it quits, she announced her retirement from stage.
Even though she stated out in 1950’s she did not get many songs in the era of Susheela, Leela and Jikki. She used to sing to comedians or special songs for most of her career till Ilayaraja came into prominence. For his earthly tunes, Ilayaraja preferred Janaki to Susheela, even though she has been the most famous singer. Janaki sang more songs for films in 70’s and 80’s. After the entrance of Chitra, she gradually reduced the songs and now, who is respected among the singers as Janaki amma, bowed her final good bye to audience who included, Janaki and Bharathi, who lip synced to her songs on screen.
