Soori has spoken about the connection between cinema and politics while promoting his upcoming Tamil film Mandaadi.
He said Vijay’s decision to leave cinema and focus on politics is disappointing for the Tamil film industry. Soori also observed that youngsters and children are showing more interest in politics, calling it a positive change.
Soori said audience support helped him move from comedy roles to becoming a lead actor. He wants to continue choosing good stories and entertaining viewers.
Mandaadi, directed by Madhimaaran Pugazhenthi, revolves around fishermen and traditional boat races. The film stars Mahima Nambiar with music by GV Prakash Kumar.
It is set to release on September 10th. Soori will next work with director Ravikumar with shooting expected to begin later this month.
