Sonali Kulkarni shared a statement after her recent comment calling Indian women’ lazy’. Her remark elicited mixed reactions on social media. “Dear all, I’m overwhelmed with the feedback I’m receiving,” Sonali wrote. I’d like to thank everyone, especially the press and media, for your mature approach to communicating with me. My intention, as a woman, was not to harm other women. In fact, I have repeatedly expressed my support for us and what it means to be a woman. I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to compliment or criticise me. “I hope we can have a more open exchange of ideas.”
“In my capacity, I strive to think, support, and share warmth with everyone, not just women. It will only strengthen us if we women, with our flaws and wisdom, shine as fair and capable beings. We can create a healthier, happier environment if we are inclusive and empathetic, “She went on.
“Having said that, if I unintentionally caused pain, I want to apologise from the bottom of my heart,” she added. I don’t like being the centre of attention, nor do I want to be the centre of attention. I’m a diehard optimist, and I firmly believe that life is beautiful. Thank you for your understanding and encouragement. I have learned a lot from this incident.”
Sonali’s video is currently trending on social media. Urofi Javed and Sona Mohapatra, among others, criticised her. Sonali was most recently seen on SonyLiv in the 2021 series Whistleblowers.
