Sona Mohapatra criticised Kabir Singh, a character played by Shahid Kapoor, and Luv Ranjan on Twitter for their “male-fantasies” films.
Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra frequently grabs attention for her unabashed viewpoint. The Ambarsariya singer never misses an opportunity to criticise those in the business who behave improperly. The musician has been making headlines recently for criticising women in the industry for bowing to wealthy males.
She didn’t name anyone, but because she described halting for azaan as a “act of respect,” internet users assumed Shehnaaz Gill was the target. She then singled out Luv Ranjan in her most recent tweet and criticised him for making “male-fantasies” movies.
Sona Mohapatra posted a video on Twitter that begins with Naa Maar by Karan Kundra and Shraddha Arya, is sung by Afsana Khan, the singer of “Yaar Mera Titliyon Warga” and a previous Bigg Boss contestant, and concludes with Sona’s song “Roti Machine”. The video begins with KK beating Shraddha while having an extramarital affair with another female, but it quickly switches to Sona’s song on equality in a relationship.
She used the tweet as the caption: “Tired of such male-fantasies playing out in popular culture? From Love Ranjan to the Kabir Singh/Arjun Reddy film narratives & when a rare female song & (fab singer like Afsana) gets an even rarer investment in a #musicvideo cus those are a male prerogative, this? #RotiMachine Not (sic)”
Previously, targeting Shehnaaz Gill, she wrote:
“All the twitter adulation for #ShehnaazGiII’s act of ‘respect’ today reminded me of her ‘support’, ‘reverence’ & ‘glorification’ of a multiple accused sex offender & pervert #SajjidKhan when he was platformed on National TV. Wished she had some respect for her sisterhood. #MeToo”.
Sona didn’t appreciate the singer’s harsh criticism from Shehnaaz Gill’s followers. She later claimed in an interview that Gill was not the target of her Tweets.
