Many studies say that the first wave of Covid pandemic should start seeing a decline in India from July end and they are urging people to be more careful as community transmission could be high now. But by September end, they say the first wave should see gradual decrease and by February of 2021, second Wave, a most severe one could start. By that time, they are asking pharmaceutical companies to be ready with drugs and asking governments to be better prepared.
As the situation in Film Industry is worsening and the people who can donate are also looking at their decreasing capacity to do so, the producers have decided to try and complete at least pending films by September and release them in October, if theatres re-open. At the least, 10 films are ready to take up October slots. Naga Chaitanya’s Love Story, Rana’s Virataparvam, Supermacchi, Nishabdam, Nani’s V, Seetimaar and few more are eyeing the slots.
The producers are unsure, when they will get such a chance to have wide releases and they have to sustain films for more weeks in theatres than normal, to recover costs. Still, they can’t let these films pile up costs and hence, they are planning at least a nominal theatrical release before OTT and Satellite debuts.
