‘Skanda’ Bags Profitable Non-Theatrical Deals

The collaboration between director Boyapati and actor Ram Pothineni seems to have struck gold with their new action drama “Skanda.” Non-theatrical deals for the movie have garnered remarkable earnings. Producer Srinivasaa Chitturi has inked a substantial Rs 45 crore deal with the Disney/Hotstar group, an unprecedented sum for Boyapati and Ram Pothineni.

The film’s Hindi dubbing rights were sold for an additional Rs 35 crore. Further adding to the revenue, the digital music streaming rights have been sold for Rs 5 crore. Altogether, the film has already raked in an impressive Rs 85 crore from various non-traditional sources.

Marketed as a pan-Indian production, “Skanda” is set to be released in all five Indian languages, capitalizing on the success of Boyapati’s previous film “Akhanda” on Hotstar. While the theatrical deals also show promise, past failures like “Warriorr” and “Custody” might impact Srinivasaa Chitturi’s returns in this area.

Nonetheless, he is already reaping significant profits even prior to the film’s release. The movie’s trailer has been a hit, featuring Ram Pothineni as a formidable hero battling villains, alongside leading lady Sreeleela. However, Thaman’s music is yet to make a significant impact.
