SITA

Amidst huge expectations, Teja directorial Sita hit the screens on Friday and surprisingly, it failed in living up to the expectations. The hype that has been created is of disappointment to the audience. The Kajal Aggarwal and Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas starrer has Sonu Sood as the antagonist and also has actor like Kota Sreenivasa Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Sangeetha and others. Here is our take on the film.

Plot: This film is all about a young lady called Sita (Kajal Aggarwal). She is definitely not like the Sita we know from the Ramayanam. This modern Sita is pretty egoistic and is mad about nothing but money and luxury. It is destined that she has to go to Raghu Ram (Bellamkonda Sreenivas) to get something that she has been wanting to. But when she reaches Ra, she realises that he is not like all of us and has been brought up under different circumstances and people. In between all this is Basava Raju (Sonu Sood), the modern Ravana and obviously, all that he wants is nothing but Sita. To know how this modern Ramayana ends, you have to watch the film. Well, the story is pretty tangled and is of course an old wine in new bottle.

Performances: Kajal, as an arrogant business lady, has nailed her performance. But maybe, there should have been some limit to the bad ass she plays. This role of Sita matches pretty much to the role of Geetha, which Kajal played in Arya 2. Bellamkonda lad has done his role really well and thankfully, his role is very much different to his previous roles and films. It was good to have Sonu Sood back to Telugu films and he has done most of the comedy in the film. Tanikella Bharani is definitely an asset to the film.

Technicalities: Music and background score by Anup Rubens is one of the good things of the film. Kajal’s dressing sense was amazing. Cranking of the camera, which was done by Sirsha Ray was okayish.

Analysis: There are a lot of mistakes in the film and good number of things which have no logic to understand or to be explained. It is the same old story and has nothing entertaining or interesting for the audience. And especially from a director like Teja, whose previous film is a blockbuster, this is not expected.

Rating:: 1/5
