This week, as usual, some small movies are being released. One of them is “Simbaa”. Star director Sampath Nandi is producing it, and Anasuya Bhardhwaj is the main actress. Let’s see how this movie does with audiences.
Simbaa Movie Story: Aksha (Anasuya) is a teacher who is recognized as the best in her school and is well-known in her community. She lives a normal life with her husband and baby. One day, while waiting at a traffic signal on her scooter, she sees Loki (Keshav Deepik) and falls into a trance. Afterward, she chases him in a car and kills him. Anurag (Vashishta N. Simha) also commits a murder and is caught by a police officer. Journalist Fazil (Srinath Maganti) and a doctor (Anish Kuruvilla) are also involved in the murders. Anurag arrests them too. The rest of the story unfolds from there.
Performances: Anasuya has shown she’s a great actress after a long time and seems to be interested in taking on unique roles, which is why she chose “Simbaa”. In the film, she plays a different character and has performed well. Sridhar Maganti and Anish Kuruvilla also gave impressive performances. Vashisht Simha plays a semi-heroic role and has been honest in his portrayal. Jagapathi Babu took on a different and important role in this story. Kabir’s role is decent, while Divya (Divya Vadthya) and Kasturi’s roles are more like guest appearances. I don’t recall much about the other characters.
Technical Aspects: “Simbaa” is narrated by one of the producers, Sampath Nandi, but the movie was directed by Murali Manohar, who previously worked as a line producer. Though he’s a new director, he did a good job with the script and managed the first half well. The interval block in the second half is particularly interesting, but the second half overall didn’t hold up. The suspense from the first half didn’t continue effectively.
When Gautami Tadimalla’s character appears, the rest of the story becomes predictable. If the narration had been more gripping, the film could have been stronger, but it feels plain instead. The music is decent, with a background score that’s okay, but the songs didn’t have much impact.
Analysis: The movie has a good message about how corporations harm nature. While the first half was decent, the second half was disappointing.
