Silly Fellows

We have been watching many comedies that worked in other language that get remade in Telugu. Some work and some don’t. Who are these Silly Fellows? What kind of comedy entertainment did they provide? Let’s discuss ….

Plot : Veerababu (Allari Naresh) is the right hand of local MLA, Jacket Janakiram (Jayaprakash Reddy). His friend, Soori (Sunil) finally fixes his marriage with Krishnaveni (Poorna). But go help Veerababu and MLA, he gets married to a recording dancer, Pushpa (Nandhini Rai). What happens next? Watch the movie to know more …

Performances : Allari Naresh, Sunil, Chitra Shukla, Nandhini Rai and Poorna are normally good actors but in this movie they just couldn’t even perform in a simple scene. Sunil made a comeback as a comedian but not a promising one.

Jayaprakash Reddy is irritating and the comedy scenes that were highlight of the Tamil movie, failed due to him. All others were equally irritating.

Technicalities : Sri Vasanth’s music is loud and it gets louder and louder by each scene. BGM is also very bad as he again tried to make it louder than bearable.

Anish Tharun Kumar’s cinematography is really bad. Even the naturally good looking actresses have been captured very badly in the movie.

Gautham Raju’s editing can be said a plus for the film, as the torture is limited to 126 minutes by him. Otherwise, if this movie ran for even a second more people would have ran out of theatres without a second thought.

Bheemineni Srinivasa Rao lost his sense of timing and making a cohesive movie. This is a stray observation any normal film lover can make after watching his recent movies. The movie suffers due to his lack of deft handling of comedy scenes that an in-form Bheemineni would have made them enjoyable without a trace of doubt.

Analysis : This movie deserves to be shown to film aspirants so that they know how not to spoil a passable comedy that is made with the sensibilities of a particular kind of audience in mind. Copying or getting inspired by watching a movie is fine but just trying to remake it just because it is a hit is too old formula these days.

Bheemineni seems to be trying too hard to find a hit film and as his name is famous for remakes, he is trying to remake any film that becomes a hit. One feels like that because even the original film was not appreciated for its quality but worked out at box office due to few comedy scenes. He should have made his own film in his own style rather than changing few sequences here and there. An avoidable attempt at comedy.

Rating : 2/5
