We have seen actors having 20 years, 30 years, 50 years of career in Telugu Film Industry but actresses including greats like Savitri, Bhanumathi, Shavukaru Janaki, Kannamba, Anjali Devi, Vani Sri, Jayapradha, Jayasudha, Bhanu Priya having such long careers as leads. After a decade or 12 – 14 years, they tend to get married or fall out of competition as leads and re-enter with a gap in character roles. Sri Devi can be said an exception and hence, many say she is an eternal Diva.
After her, the heroines have changed their outlook and tried to have such long careers as leads. In the present generation, we can say Shriya Saran is one actress who is still finding work as a lead in different languages after being in the field for 16 years. She completed 16, this September and the actress is happy about it. But she did say that she does have regrets.
She said, “I can’t work with any person just for the sake of it. I have to know them and be comfortable with them to be able to work with them. This made me lose some opportunities but I have been able to stay longer in the field, that makes me happy. I did many movies that I can look back and feel happy about. At the same time, I felt bad when my film flopped and regret some movies.” Currently, in Telugu, she is doing Veera Bhoga Vasantha Rayalu and in Hindi, Tadka with Nana Patekar.
