Shobana plays Kaikesi, the mother of Ravana, in Ramayana: Part 1. Her performance has received appreciation from audiences.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the mythological epic features a grand cast and impressive visuals. Shobana is not just a talented actress but also a trained Bharatanatyam dancer.
She has acted in over 200 films during her four decade long career. She won two National Film Awards for Manichitrathazhu and Mitr, My Friend.
She has also received the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan for her contribution to the arts.
Shobana started her dance institute, Kalarpana, in 1991 and has trained hundreds of students. She plays an important role in Ramayana.
