Singer Shilpa Rao spoke about India’s independent music scene and how music has become a serious career.
She said that earlier, especially in the 90s choosing music as a profession was not taken seriously but now things have changed.
Today musicians can build a career and sustain themselves through music with hard work.
Shilpa who completes 20 years in the industry in 2026 said social media is just a tool and not everything. She stressed that learning and practicing music with passion is most and most important.
She also said India is known globally for its music and films, but hopes the country grows stronger in the indie music and concert space, becoming a global hub.
