Shanthanu Shares Efforts Behind His Balti Performance

Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, who plays a key role in Balti, spoke about the efforts he took to prepare for his character. The film directed by debutant Unni Sivalingam is set to release on September 26th.

Shanthanu revealed that he learned Malayalam specifically for this role. Though he initially tried learning the language on his own he struggled and eventually hired a language coach to speak it correctly. He admitted that he had told the director he already knew Malayalam to secure the part.

He also described his dubbing process which required three sessions. The first focused on dialogue flow, the second on perfecting his accent and the third on refining his overall performance.

Playing a Tamil boy speaking Malayalam he appreciated the director’s attention to detail, especially in ensuring authenticity for the border region dialect.
