Director Shankar was initially planning a grand pan-India historical drama based on a famous Tamil king.
However the project reportedly requires a massive budget and producers are said to be reluctant to invest such a huge amount at the moment. As a result Shankar is believed to be exploring a different path for his next film.
According to industry buzz the director now wants to return to the style that made him famous by focusing on a strong story rather than a huge budget or a superstar.
He is said to be working on a content driven action entertainer with a relatively moderate budget.
Interestingly Shankar began his career with Gentleman, starring Arjun which became a blockbuster despite not featuring a top star. Many are now eager to see if he can recreate that magic once again.
