Shahid Kapoor discusses how he felt the phrase “cute” was regressive in a recent interview.

One of Bollywood’s most gifted performers, Shahid Kapoor has excelled in every genre, showcasing his talent. In his early years, he created a certain impression of himself; with his boyish charms, he was one of the industry’s cutest chocolate guys. But did you know he disliked the label of “cute”? You read that correctly; In a current interview, he discussed it,

In the 2003 film Ishq Vishq, the actor made his acting debut. He even took home a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance. His reputation as a chocolate hero strengthened with films like Vivah, Jab We Met, and a few more, and in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey, the public saw another side of him. After that, he shed his “kid next door” persona and appeared in movies like Haider and Udta Punjab, among others.

In an interview Shahid Kapoor shared that he hated being called ‘cute’. Shahid revealed, “I used to hate it when people used to say, ‘Oh, you are cute’. I used to hate it. Like why would you say that to anybody? I never liked that word. I have learnt to be graceful and accept when people throw it at you. I just felt like it was very limiting.”

Shahid Kapoor also discussed his entire career path up to this point and reflected, “It’s been fairly insane. Why did I make some of the decisions that I did? Kaminey comes first, then Dil Bole Hadippa. R Rajkumar is followed by Haider. I’m not sure what was wrong with me. On the one side, Shahid contributed greatly to numerous legendary films, but on the other hand, he also experienced a lot of disappointments.

On the professional front, Shahid Kapoor made his OTT debut with Farzi on Amazon Prime Video alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Rashi Khanna. Both viewers and critics gave the series favourable reviews.
