Following several reports from producers and technicians that drug misuse was pervasive among young performers in the Malayalam film business, Kerala Police will deploy “shadow police” at filming locations.
Two young actors were apparently using narcotics regularly, according to the Kerala producers organisation, and many other celebrities were also implicated in this.
Several days ago, association representatives warned reporters that these two young actors were quite erratic on set and did not uphold their contracts.
Former President of the Producer Association G. Suresh Kumar warned the media that while they would not name the actors, police were free to take action on this matter because it was “killing the Malayalam film industry.”
It is unknown whether the state police will perform a thorough check of every shooting location in the state.
