Shabana Azmi Joins Anti-SIR Protest In Mumbai

Shabana Azmi joined the Cockroach Janta Party’s “Jail Bharo Andolan” at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2nd.

The protest was held over concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with the group demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Naseeruddin Shah, Vishal Dadlani and filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj were also present. Shabana said voting is a right and people should use democratic means to raise their voices if their names are removed from voter lists.

The protest went ahead despite police denying permission, with police estimating around 4,000 people present.

Prakash Raj also supported the protest through a video message. Javed Akhtar later responded to criticism over noise at Shivaji Park, referring to political rallies held at the venue.
