Senior Tollywood director Sagar passes away. Reportedly, Sagar breathed his last at his residence in Chennai this morning. As per the media reports, Sagar is suffering from age-related health complications for the past few years and it is the main reason behind his demise. He was 70.
Sagar aka Vidya Sagar Reddy started his film career as a director with ‘Rakasi Loya’ in the year 1983. The film has Naresh and Vijaya Shanti in the lead roles. As the debut film got a decent identity, Sagar eventually went on to direct several hit films with a few leading Telugu actors back then. Sagar helmed films like Amma Donga, Khaidi Brothers, Stuwartpuram Dongalu, Rama Sakkanodu, Action no.1, Anveshana, Oosi Naa Maradala, Daaku and other popular films which brought him good fame.
Current generation noted directors like Srinu Vaitla, V.V. Vinayak, Ravi Kumar Chowdary, and G. Nageswara Reddy have worked as Sagar’s assistants during their budding stage.
Sagar was born in Guntur in 1952 and worked in various departments such as film editor and assistant director for many Telugu movies before turning director.
