The coronavirus pandemic has been disastrous for the film industries of the world, especially the exhibition industries and its members, as the pandemic has resulted in the shutting down of theatres across the globe. Just when everyone thought that the pandemic was over after the first wave, in India, the second wave wreaked a lot more havoc, in a sudden bout, and left people too scared.
While the Telugu audiences showed good interest in going back to theatres after the first wave, the same couldn’t be said of the Telugu audiences after the second wave, due to the magnitude of the second wave. Of the several films that were released after the second wave, in theatres, while there were successful ones, they were not enough for filmmakers to take a plunge and release bigger films.
With the arrival and success of Gopichand’s Seetimaarr though, hopes of audiences going back to theatres, and good revenues, have once again sprung up in the hearts of filmmakers. Several films are currently lined up for release, with Sekhar Kammula’s Love Story arriving next week, and many other filmmakers are already planning their release dates carefully.
