Action hero Gopichand and Tamannaah’s sports drama, Seetimaarr has hit the screens today. Let’s check how it fares.
Story: Being a bank employee from a small town near Rajahmundry a person named Karthi( Gopichand) will be training a few young girls from his village in Kabaddi sports. After winning district and state-level competitions, Karthi’s team will be qualified for the National level and steps in Delhi for the same. As a parallel sub-plot, Karthi’s sister Bhoomi’s( Bhumika Chawla) husband cum IPS officer Arvind’s( Rehman) conflict with a local cop turned criminal Makan Singh(Tarun Arora) in the Ghaziabad region will be showcased. What is Karthi’s role in his brother-in-law’s conflict episode with Makan Singh? Forms the main USB of the film.
Performances: As usual, Gopichand is super fit and gave a convincing performance as Kabaddi coach. His screen presence and dialogue delivery in the action sequences will be liked by the mass audience.
Tamannaah is impressive in the glamorous avatar in the initial episodes but later she gave a good performance during the crucial proceedings in the second half. Her chemistry with Gopichand has been limited to only a few scenes.
Bhumika Chawla and Rehman are perfectly suited in the given key roles. Young heroine Digangana is decent in her given bubble character as a news anchor. Other actors such as Tarun Arora, Rao Ramesh are apt in their roles.
Technicalities: Music by Mani Sharma is top-notch as his background score is a major advantage for the movie. All songs are good on-screen but two montage songs on the Kabaddi game carries the mood of the film nicely. Special mention to Jawala Reddy song between the lead pair, it will surely be a treat to watch on screen for the targeted audience.
The cinematography by Sounder Rajan is good as his frames and lighting brought quality output. Editing work by Tammiraju is adequate.
Production values for this limited budget film are good.
Analysis: Director Sampath Nandi, who is known for making formulaic films has come up with a similar kind of film this time also but the idea of exploring women empowerment concept in the Kabaddi sports backdrop is appreciable. He developed the script by incorporating commercial ingredients to the core theme and succeeded largely with the execution part.
The way of presentation and the screenplay version are in perfect sync for the film. Adding to it, the elements such as action, family drama, songs are placed in the right manner in this actioner.
Overall, Seetimaarr is a commercially packed sports drama that can be watched one time easily during this weekend. More than A centres, the film has scope to witness good revenues in B and C centres and may end up as the commercial hit at the box office.
Verdict: Commercial Entertainer!
