Singer Sunitha’s son, Akash Goparaju, steps into the world of cinema with Sarkaari Noukari, a film directed by Ganganamoni Shekar. The film was released on New Year’s Eve and let’s review the film here in detail.

Story: Gopal (Akash Goparaju) is a government official whose responsibilities include promoting the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS in the village. He marries Satya (Bhavana Vazhapandal), but his job becomes a source of discord in their relationship. Satya, disapproving of Gopal’s profession, issues an ultimatum for him to resign or face separation. The film explores the reasons behind Gopal’s unwavering dedication and whether he succeeds in raising awareness among the villagers.

Performances: Akash Goparaju, in his debut role, delivers a commendable performance, expressing emotions effectively through his eyes. Bhavana Valapandal shines in her portrayal of Satya, and the chemistry between her and Akash enhances the overall impact. Supporting cast members, including Srinivasa Rao, Sammeta Gandhi, Sudhakar Reddy, Madhulatha, and Mahadev, contribute well to their respective roles.

Technical Aspects: Ganganamoni Shekar’s treatment of the subject could have been more impactful, especially considering the sensitive nature of the topic in Indian society. The balance between comedy and emotional elements lacks finesse, hindering complete viewer engagement.

Sandilya Pisapati’s songs contribute to the film’s pleasant atmosphere, complemented by a decent background score. The visuals effectively capture the natural essence of the village setting. However, the editing falls short of expectations.

Analysis: Sarkaru Naukari has a decent theme on paper. The film’s premise captivates with its intriguing concept, aiming to deliver a societal message about a pressing health issue. Certain scenes are handled adeptly, and the 90s setting adds authenticity, reflecting a period when our nation grappled with the onset of the AIDS epidemic.

While “Sarkaaru Noukari” endeavors to balance its serious theme with elements of fun and emotion, it falls short of complete success. The film’s pacing is a major drawback, with a slow narrative that persists from start to finish.

The emotional sequences lack depth, and the predictability factor diminishes the impact of certain plot twists. The director’s attempt to infuse comedy into the narrative falls short, preventing a full connection with the audience. The movie, despite addressing a significant issue, misses the mark in delivering an engaging and entertaining experience.

Verdict: On the whole, Sarkaaru Noukari narrates an important topic but falters in its narrative. Akash Goparaju’s debut performance is impressive but the blend of comedy and emotions falls flat, leaving the movie with limited moments of appeal.

Bottom Line: Lacks the punch
