Despite suggestions from industry insiders that action super hero film “Hanu-Man” might struggle to secure good theatre availability for its release during the Sankranthi season, several factors are preventing the film from stepping back. The film, ideally suited for a prime release slot, faces challenges due to the current timing not being conducive for a successful solo run.
Interestingly, the anticipation surrounding the Ayodhya Ram Mandir ceremony, slated for the third week of January, has sparked expectations, especially among Bollywood circles, that the Prashant Varma, directed movie might perform well at the Hindi box office.
Capitalizing on this potential, the film has fixed January 12th as its release date, commencing promotional activities for its Hindi version. With 800+ theaters in North India displaying “Hanu Man” promotional material and local publicity efforts underway, there’s a concerted push for success in the Hindi market.
Complicating matters further, the film’s makers have already inked a substantial deal with an OTT platform, entailing a sizable payout, making it difficult to postpone or reschedule the release date. Consequently, unless new arrangements or alternate deals emerge, “Hanu Man” appears committed to its scheduled release date, banking on the prospects of a robust showing in the Hindi market, despite potential challenges in securing theatres during the pongal season.
