Sankranthi 2022: A missed opportunity for all!

Sankranthi 2022 was much awaited by many filmmakers in Tollywood, and several big films were even announced to be releasing on the occasion, including Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Bheemla Nayak, Radhe Shyam, F3, Bangarraju, and others. Many of these films backed off when it was announced that Rajamouli’s RRR would be releasing on January 7th, with Radhe Shyam being the only film that stuck to its release date.

With the spreading of the Omicron variant though, especially in the Northern part of India, the makers of RRR have chosen to postpone the film’s release. There are reports that the release of Prabhas’s film Radhe Shyam could also be postponed, but with no official confirmation yet, the film is currently still scheduled to release on January 14th.

As a result, no big film is now releasing for Sankranthi, and Bangarraju is the only film that is ready to release for Sankranthi, on January 15th. Thus, everyone is viewing Sankranthi 2022 as a missed opportunity on a massive scale, for Tollywood, given that it is one of the biggest seasons for Tollywood.
