The acclaimed Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2023 has named Sanjay Mishra’s Hindi short film “Giddh” the winner of the Asia International Competition.
The Hindi short film “Giddh” (The Scavenger), starring actor Sanjay Mishra, took first place in the Asia International Competition at the prestigious Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2023. The actor was also given the festival’s “Best Actor” accolade, and the movie “Giddh” became a serious contender in the short film category after winning “Best Short Film” status.
‘Giddh’ is a blunt social commentary that holds up a mirror to society and speaks objectively about many of the unflinching truths that most people would rather ignore. Giddh, which resonates with audiences around the world, was previously chosen by the jury of the USA Film Festival 2023 as a finalist.
Other prestigious international short film festivals, such as the “LA Shorts International Film Festival 2023” and the “Carmarthen Bay International Film Festival 2023,” also included the short film as one of their official selections.
Sanjay Mishra expressed the following about the film’s widespread acclaim: “I am very humbled and appreciative for the overwhelming worldwide acclaim that our film Giddh has garnered. It has been a great adventure, and working with such an amazing crew was an experience I will never forget.
“We faced challenges head-on, pouring our hearts into every scene, and witnessing the magic that unfolded before our very eyes. As I look back on the countless hours of hard work and unwavering dedication invested in this project, I am profoundly moved by the reception and recognition that our labor of love has garnered,” he added.
Giddh, which is being produced by Ellanar Films and Amdavad Films, will be directed by Manish Saini, a national award-winning filmmaker best known for his work in Gujarati cinema films like “Dhh” and “Gandhi and Co.”
