Sanjay Dutt has discussed his experiences playing evil characters in movies.

Sanjay Dutt has established a reputation for playing villains, from Khalnayak to Kancha Cheena in Agneepath, and has proven that no one can equal his acting prowess while portraying an anti-hero. There have, however, been numerous rumours that Sanjay Dutt will appear in Hera Pheri 4 as a villain. And the actor talked candidly about playing the villain again in some of his next films during a recent interview.

After receiving a lot of positive feedback from the public for his most recent film, KGF: Chapter 2 in which he played Adheera, Dutt now has back-to-back projects in front of him, including Leo with Vijay and a multilingual KD – The Devil with Dhruva Sarja.
Sanjay Dutt explains in an interview how the linguistic barrier between the film industry has been removed, and now only movies are being produced. “Now is such an amazing time to be an actor because we get all different kinds of roles from all across the country,” he remarked. The absence of the language barrier is a positive development. Now that there are movies like KGF and RRR, movies are just movies. The types of portions that are being written for me excite me. I am loving it because this is the most fun I have ever had in my job.

Going further in the conversation, when Sanjay Dutt was asked to share his opinion on playing villainous characters in films, the actor shared, “These roles are completely different from each other. The characters are written to suit the story. Just because I have played a villain in a certain way in one film doesn’t mean that I am going to play it the same way in the other. It’s my job as an actor to make each role different. Whether I play the hero or the anti-hero, I should do justice to my character. After 40 years in the industry, I am still hungry for good work and interesting roles.”

In his final remarks, Sanjay discussed the development of villains in Hindi cinema and identified Mogambo and Gabbar as famous figures from popular culture. The anti-heroes will return in bigger and better avatars, he continued, even though there haven’t been any villains in recent films.
