On April 5, 2023, Ponniyin Selvan 2, the follow-up to the epic novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy, will be released in theatres.
Shaakuntalam:
Currently in production is the historical drama film Shaakuntalam, which was written and is being directed by Gunasekhar. It is distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations and produced by Neelima Guna through Gunaa Teamworks. The movie, which is based on a well-known play by Kalidasa called Abhignyana Shakuntalam, stars Samantha in the title role as Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the monarch of the Puru dynasty.
In supporting roles, it also has Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo, Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla. On April 14, 2023, the movie will be released in theatres.
