Salaar Box Office: Impact of Producer Decisions

Salaar’s release in Andhra Pradesh faced setbacks due to decisions made by its producers. Typically, a big movie like Salaar aims for a grand opening with numerous screenings and significant revenue. Opting for close acquaintances instead of established distributors for the film’s distribution impacted its release.

In regions like Guntur and Krishna, the film was sold to KSN Telefilms, which aren’t regular distributors, affecting early showings and the hiring of theaters. Similarly, in the Western region, the film’s release through Geetha was advanced, resulting in insufficient attention to closing deals, leading to poor theater hiring.

Had Salaar been sold to well-known distributors with standard terms like Non-Refundable Advances (NRA) or Minimum Guarantees (MG), it might have witnessed substantial record-breaking openings. However, due to these decisions, the movie’s potential for extraordinary success seems limited. Some screenings are starting as late as 8 AM, impacting the overall opening.

Moreover, the producers couldn’t negotiate a favorable hike in ticket prices with the Andhra Pradesh government. While other recent films received a higher hike (like Adipurush receiving a ₹50 hike), Salaar only received a ₹40 hike. Nevertheless, despite these challenges, Salaar has been performing exceptionally well in areas like Nizam, Kerala, and overseas.
