Vijay Kiragandur, the producer of the film Salaar, has been actively engaging with Bollywood media to promote the movie. Recently, he disclosed that the selection of December 22 as the release date was based on astrological reasons. In a recent interview, Kiragandur shed light on why Salaar received an A (Adults Only) certificate.
Initially anticipating a U/A certificate to cater to family audiences, the team was surprised by the A rating. Kiragandur explained that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clarified a change in regulations, resulting in the film’s A certification. This rating was attributed to the movie’s intense action sequences rather than any explicit content.
The CBFC recommended some modifications for a U/A rating, but director Neel opted against these alterations. He believed toning down certain scenes depicting the evolution of a violent character would diminish their impact. Kiragandur highlighted that recent successful films like “Animal” also received an A certificate, indicating changing audience preferences.
The stakeholders involved in Salaar were supportive of the A certification, believing it might attract a broader audience base. Despite the unexpected rating, the team seems confident that the movie’s action-packed narrative will resonate positively with viewers, ensuring its success despite the mature rating.
