Saiyami Kher pays tribute to Gadar 2 while promoting Ghoomer

Saiyami Kher, an actress, has taken a brave position by bringing attention to the current lack of support for storylines focusing on women in the Indian film industry.

Saiyami, which takes its cue from the famous hand pump sequence in Sunny Deol’s blockbuster Gadar, is a strong call to action.

Saiyami Kher recreates the iconic hand pump moment from Gadar in the video while paying homage to it. She imitates the iconic scene with grace and style, ripping out the pump before tossing it away in a motion reminiscent of her most recent movie, Ghoomer.

Her message is: “Girls, too, are capable of achieving victory for Hindustan.” A tag to Sunny Deol accompanies her post, expressing gratitude for the inspiration he embodies.

Saiyami told IANS: “I have been overwhelmed by the response Ghoomer has got by the people who have watched it. I hope it can reach more people. It’s really good news that people are back to the theatres but I wish female films were championed as much.”

“The effort is the same. We say more mixed content needs to be made, more representation, but then when a film that is based on a female athlete, it doesn’t get the same kind of response. Sunny sir has been so kind and generous with his support! Pls Gadar dekho par ‘Ghoomar’ bhi dekho!”

She plays the difficult part of a paraplegic cricket player who loses her right hand in a horrible accident in “Ghoomer.” Her character’s journey is similar to her own in its resolve and tenacity. Saiyami’s character triumphs, leading her team to victory and proudly carrying the trophy home for India under the guidance of her coach, played by Abhishek Bachchan.
