The Marathi film that took the nation by storm, Sairat, will now get a Telugu remake. The film which was released in April leaked in almost 85 crores although it was made on a very shoestring budget of Rs 4 crores. The film of teenage angst and romance, directed by Nagraj Manjule, made the lead actors of the film, Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, celebrated stars overnight.
Saint will now be remade in four major south Indian languages. Well- known Kannada producer Rockline Venkatesh, who had earlier produced Rajini’s Lingaa and Ravi Teja’s Power, has received the remake rights to all the four versions of the film. He will collaborate with the Marathi producers to make all the films.
The buzz is that the director of the original, Nagraj Manjule, will be directing the Telugu version himself. Casting process for all the four films have began already and will go on the floors soon.
