“Kalki 2898 AD” was a major box-office hit and also won a National Film Award in the popular entertainment category.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film featured Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. The makers announced a sequel and shooting reportedly began earlier this year.
However, the shoot was paused due to Prabhas unavailability. Nag Ashwin is now preparing to resume filming later this month.
Deepika Padukone, who played Sumathi in the first part will not be part of the sequel. Sai Pallavi has reportedly been chosen for “Kalki 2” and may join the shoot in November 2026.
However the makers are yet to confirm her casting or reveal whether she will replace Deepika or play a new character.
