Prabhas became a bonafide pan-Indian star with the stupendous success of the Baahubali franchise, through which the Indian audience fell in love with the actor’s on-screen presence, and off-screen persona. His immediate follow-up to Baahubali was Saaho, which was a commercial blockbuster, getting more than expected, at the box office.
While the film didn’t impress the Telugu audience, it did wonders at the Bollywood box office, even getting a huge opening, one that has been unbeaten. Everyone expected Rajamouli’s RRR to achieve this feat, upon release, but even RRR has been unable to achieve it. Saaho collected more than Rs. 31 Crores on the first day of its release, in the Hindi belt, while RRR has collected Rs. 22 Crores, falling nearly 10 crores short of even reaching Saaho’s collections.
This proves that Prabhas’s contribution to Baahubali is what made the franchise what it was and that it wouldn’t have happened otherwise, erasing all doubts of the contrary. While Prabhas’s recent film Radhe Shyam may have disappointed everyone, it is expected that the actor can command the Indian audience once again, with the right kind of action-packed script.
