Runtime Redemption: ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ Cuts Its Losses

Mass Raja Ravi Teja’s latest film “Tiger Nageswara Rao” was released recently, it created quite a stir, although not always for the right reasons. The tedious quality of the film’s second half surprised both critics and audiences. It seems that the film’s dragging storyline managed to bore the audience, and the attempt at a KGF-style non-linear screenplay didn’t quite hit the mark.

Directed by Vamsee, “TNR” had an initial runtime of over 3 hours, a duration that raised eyebrows even before its release. Some had advised the director to trim down the movie by a substantial 30 minutes. However, the director, backed by the producer, stood firm, claiming that the lengthy runtime was a collective decision.

After the film hit the screens, it became clear that the dragging pace was a significant issue. In response to the audience’s feedback, the makers decided to take action. They announced that they have now shortened the film to a more manageable 2 hours and 37 minutes, hoping that this edit will rekindle excitement among the audience.

Many are now speculating that it might have been wiser to present a slicker version of the movie right from the beginning, rather than addressing the issue post-release. The final verdict from the audience will determine whether this last-minute edit can salvage “Tiger Nageswara Rao’s” reception.
