Karthikeya Rajamouli, the son of SS Rajamouli, claimed that the RRR team had only invested Rs 8.5 crore on its Oscar campaign. However, a new report presents a different account.
Since its debut, SS Rajamouli’s movie RRR has made the nation happy. The movie was well-liked all over the globe and even won an Oscar for the song Naatu Naatu. According to a new report, the film’s team did not come close to spending the staggering sum claimed in a previous report that claimed they had spent Rs 8.5 crore on Oscar campaigning.
The magnum opus starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan, which was said to be the most expensive Indian picture to date, was released in 2022. When it was released, the movie dominated both the local and international box offices.
Karthikeya Rajamouli, who assisted his father with the VFX for the blockbuster film, recently asserted that the RRR team only invested Rs 8.5 crore in its Oscar campaign. A account, however, tells a different tale.
The report quoted a source in Hyderabad as saying, “Everyone even remotely connected to RRR knows they spent at least 80 crores lobbying for the Oscars. This was for SS Rajamouli for direction, Ram Charan and NTR Jr for acting and MM Keeravani for the song Naatu Naatu. When Naatu Naatu was the only Oscar nominee, the team felt slightly cheated and let down. So they decided to scale down the amount. But you can’t change 80 crores to 8.5 crores (Note: It was reported that the team may have spent 80 crores instead of the more conservative estimate of 50 crores). It is downright absurd.”
In addition, the source told the media that Karthikeya performed his own math to protect RRR from further interrogation regarding the Oscars bill. Instead, he’s exposed the RRR crew to a barrage of inquiries.
