Story: Harsha, Rahul, Vicky, and Surya, once flatmates, led carefree lives filled with jobs, night rides, and fun. While most were settled, Vicky enjoyed his wealthy, free-spirited lifestyle. Everything changes when four women enter their lives: Sonia brings romance to Harsha, Priya introduces commitment to Rahul, Shweta challenges Vicky’s priorities, and Divya shakes up Surya’s world. How do these women transform their lives? Why do happiness and friendship give way to separation? Roti Kapada Romance unravels the answers in this tale of love, friendship, and rediscovery.

Performances: The four heroes in the film share equal screen time. Supraj Ranga, who played Vicky, stands out the most. His natural ease and effective dialogue delivery entertain the audience, and Vicky’s characterization, in particular, resonates well with the youth. Following this film, Supraj Ranga is likely to become a sought-after actor. Harsha Narra’s seriousness is evident in his performance, while Sandeep Saroj portrays confusion, and Tarun brings a laid-back attitude to his role. Their portrayals showcase how deeply they’ve connected with their characters as actors. Sonu Thakur, Megha Lekha, Nuveksha, and Khushboo Choudhary also deliver impressive performances.

Analysis: The first half of the story, penned by director Vikram Reddy, is reminiscent of the Hindi superhit Pyaar Ka Punchnama. The comedy, particularly the scenes revolving around Vicky’s character, is well-written and works effectively. However, Vikram shines more as a writer than a director in the second half. Deviating from the regular format, he conveys that no one is at fault and that circumstances ultimately balance everything.

That said, the story doesn’t present a clear victory for either side, offering a more nuanced perspective. While some audiences may find the resolution where both sides win difficult to accept, Vikram’s efforts as a writer deserve appreciation. He avoids traditional patterns as a filmmaker and delivers a unique narrative.

How Vikram, who entertained audiences with this film, will fare in his next project remains to be seen. Themes like friendship, first love, responsibility, first kiss, and early intimacy are highlighted tastefully, without vulgarity, ensuring the film entertains while maintaining its charm. There are also a few scenes that are quite predictable and should have been chopped. But overall, the output is passable.

Verdict: On the whole, Roti Kapada Romance is a fun and youthful drama that has its moments. While the first half has fun, the second half is filled with emotions making it a passable watch this weekend.
