Music director Ghantadi Krishna, best known for 6 Teens and Sampangi, has now made his directorial debut with Risk, a film he also co-produced. Here’s how his latest attempt turns out.
Risk Story: Karthik, an IT job consultant, illegally helps students get jobs in top companies and enjoys life with his friends. They meet former Miss India Sandali, who claims her husband is trying to kill her and asks them to murder him. Trusting her, they fall into a trap and get arrested. Why Sandali betrayed them and how they escape forms the rest of the story.
Performances: Sandeep Ashwa looks good and performs well in the songs and action scenes, but his acting lacks impact. Rajeev Kanakala stands out with a strong performance, while Anish Kuruvilla is impressive in his limited role. Sanya looks good, but Zoya Javeri’s glamour doesn’t add much. The rest of the cast leaves little impression.
Technical Aspects: Risk was first announced as 6 Teens 2, hoping to cash in on the popularity of the original, but was later renamed. Director Ghantadi Krishna’s filmmaking feels outdated, with weak storytelling and several illogical scenes, especially involving the IT job scam.
The film also suffers from poor production values and unconvincing action sequences. Even the recreated version of the hit “Devudu Varamandisthe” song fails to create any nostalgia or leave an impact.
Analysis: Risk ends up as a wasted attempt by Ghantadi Krishna, weighed down by an illogical screenplay, poor production values, and below-par music.
Verdict: Risk has an interesting premise, but weak execution, poor production values, and an illogical screenplay make it a disappointing watch.
Bottom Line: Disappointing cinematic experience.
Rating: 1/5
