AR Rahman recently faced criticism after a interview. During the interaction Rahman suggested that changes in power within Bollywood may have affected the kind of work he received and hinted at possible communal bias.
His remarks sparked discussions with many reacting strongly. As the debate grew, old video interviews of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma began circulating on social media.
In those clips RGV spoke about working with Rahman during Rangeela and Daud and mentioned how he encouraged Rahman to bring out his best music. He also referred to the famous “Jai Ho” tune which later won Rahman an Oscar.
However RGV clarified that his comments were taken out of context. He said he never claimed Rahman took credit for the song.
In a tweet, RGV praised Rahman as a great composer and a kind person hoping to end the negativity. Varma had earlier introduced Rahman to Bollywood with Rangeela.
