The demise of the legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar, has left many music fans heartbroken, but as ever, the singer will forever remain in the hearts of her fans and admirers, through her evergreen voice, and her contribution to the world of Indian music.
Lata Mangeshkar has predominantly sung Hindi films but has also sung two Telugu songs in her career. She first sang Nidurapora Thammuda from the film Santhanam, in 1955. Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Savitri were the leads of this movie, whose music was composed by Susarla Dakshinamurthi. After that, she hadn’t sung a Telugu song in over 30 years and sung her second song in 1988.
Lata’s second Telugu song was Tella Cheeraku, from Aakhari Poratam, in 1988, directed by Raghavendra Rao, which had Akkineni Nagarjuna and Sridevi in the lead roles, while the music was composed by Ilayaraja.
