Kollywood star Suriya has suffered another setback with Retro. Released on May 1, 2025 and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film opened to negative talk from the first show. Though it earned average collections over the weekend, box office numbers dropped later, making Retro a disaster overall.
Let’s have a look at the final closing collections:
| Nizam | 1.38 crore |
| Ceded | 0.44 crore |
| Uttarandhra | 0.50 crore |
| East | 0.22 crore |
| West | 0.17 crore |
| Guntur | 0.34 crore |
| Krishna | 0.32 crore |
| Nellore | 0.16 crore |
| AP+Telangana Total | 3.53 crore |
Retro did a Rs. 7.6 crore theatrical business in Telugu states but needed Rs. 8 crore share to break even. It collected only Rs. 3.53 crore share and Rs. 5.9 crore gross, falling short by Rs. 4.47 crore and ending as a disaster. Strong competition from Nani’s HIT 3 also affected its run.
