Republic Weekend: Why Tollywood’s Silence?

The Republic weekend, typically marked by a national holiday on the 26th, is usually a sought-after time for movie releases. However, this time around, it seems like there’s less buzz around this holiday slot compared to the competitive Sankranti season.

While only two films, ‘Vyuham’ and ‘Pratinidhi 2’ with uncertain release prospects, have secured dates, the lack of updates on the latter’s shooting progress leaves much unknown. Looking ahead, Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Fighter‘ is set for a grand release on February 25th, directed by Siddharth Anand, who was eyeing success following ‘Pathaan’s release last year.

Concurrently, ‘Laal Salam‘ featuring Rajnikanth in a special role, and a dubbed film starring Mohanlal are also slated for this time frame, leveraging the success of ‘Jailer‘. Vikram‘s ‘Thangalan‘ faced delays reportedly due to film festival screenings.

If ‘Captain Miller’ doesn’t arrive on January 19th, there’s a possibility of its release during the Republic weekend. Interestingly, this time, dubbed films seem to dominate the weekend with no prominent Telugu releases. Suggestions have arisen urging makers to consider releasing films during this holiday weekend, not just focusing solely on the Sankranti season.
