Ravi Immadi, the man behind the piracy site iBomma was recently arrested in Hyderabad and is now in Cyber Crime police custody.
He was questioned for the second day and the investigation revealed how he bought films and managed financial transactions. Police are also checking his links with other websites and the mafia involved in the business.
Ravi explained how payments were made and how the system worked. He cooperated with the officers and also spoke about his personal life, financial troubles and what pushed him into piracy. He said he ran an office in the Caribbean Islands and purchased films from tech workers in the UK.
The SBI technical team joined the investigation. Police found that iBomma was connected to illegal betting apps and other piracy websites. Ravi admitted he bought many films from MovieRulz and paid in cryptocurrency.
He also revealed that some UK websites convert theatre-recorded pirated videos into HD copies and sell them. More details are expected to come out as the investigation continues.
