Ranveer Singh has landed in controversy for imitating Rishab Shetty. An FIR has been filed against the actor for allegedly hurting the Hindu religious sentiments linked to the Chavundi Daiva tradition of coastal Karnataka.
The complaint was registered at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. The incident happened on November 28th last year during the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India “IFFI” held in Goa and the case was registered on Wednesday.
It is alleged that Ranveer Singh mimicked a Daiva performance inspired by Rishab Shetty’s film Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1.
After facing criticism, Ranveer issued an apology saying he was sorry for hurting religious sentiments. He shared the apology through his social media.
FIR has been filed under Sections 196, 299 and 302. Ranveer has not yet reacted to the complaint.
